Afternoon Gregg,
I think that hog slat is a reasonable alternative. I will note that while researching different
products, one common issue that's brought up is the construction methodology using products
like hog slat or flow -through decking. Specifically, many people noted that these materials
aren't properly/adequately secured during installation, resulting in the panels being washed out
during hurricanes. Obviously, the potential for these large chunks of material to end up in the
water is a concern. So I would strongly encourage the contractor to ensure that they, at the
minimum, follow any manufacturer guidance on installing the panels securely.
