Hi Zan,
As the work is offline and you will need to observe a tree clearing moratorium, we will allow
you all to start work on 3/ 1 /23. Please pay special attention to erosion and sediment
control on site.

Andrea,
It was nice to see you yesterday. Baker Grading is under contract with Blue Ridge RC&D to construct this project this
Spring. Per the correspondence below, this is our formal email request to start construction on this project on March 1,
2023, weather permitting. As discussed previously, we need to start prior to April 15 to meet the April 1 tree clearing
moratorium. The project partners would also like to plant the woody buffer during the dormant season right after
construction is completed. The contractor will work on the new channel offline and will not turn the water into the new
i
channels until the bed and the banks are stabilized. They will also utilize a clean water pump around whenever they
need to work in the active channel to tie into the restored channel.
Please let me know if you have any additional comments or concerns.
Regards,
Zan Price, PE

Andrea,
Not sure yet until I talk with Baker regarding their schedule. I didn't want to say March was an option until I confirmed
with you.

One more question on this one. If we can't get the contractor lined up to construct this winter prior to January 1, is
there any flexibility on starting prior to April 15? We are up against the bat moratorium of April 1 and it would be
great to plant woodies right after construction before the dormant season ends. Thanks for all your help on this one.
I just want to have all the information when I talk with Baker grading.

Andrea,
We would like to construct during a time when we can plant the woody buffer right after construction, but I
understand if after January 1 is not an option for construction. We have a tree removal moratorium for bats April 1
- Oct 15. If needed, we can get the trees needed for the project prior to April 1 and be ready to go with construction
on 4/15. My hope is that we can meet the Oct 15- Jan 1 window this fall and this discussion is not needed. Just
wanted to check in to see if there was any flexibility before I reach out to contractors. I anticipate a 2-3 week
construction timeframe.
Thank you.

Andrea,
Just checking in to see if there would be any flexibility on this rainbow moratorium if the channel is constructed
offline while flow remains in the pipe? We are pinched by the tree removal moratorium of October 15 and January
1 trout moratorium. I hope we can construct during this window (Oct 15-Jan1) but it will depend on contractor
availability and permitting. I understand if this is not an option, but it never hurts to ask :-)

Andrea,
Happy New Year! We are working with Laura Fogo on a stream daylighting project on approximately 300 feet of
Possum Trot Creek and 300 feet of a UT to Possum Trot. Approximate coordinates of 35.898568, -82.443899
Should we plan on a trout moratorium at this site?
Thanks.
