Stephen met me onsite on 1/19/23. The contractor is working on installing the trestle. The spans are 25’ long. The photo with the excavator shows how they are floating the mats into place to stack for the “bents.” They are taking care to stage materials on existing riprap or the existing areas of trestle, not on any existing coastal wetlands. We confirmed that the access ramp at the Sta. 20+00 location is in the correct location, and the contractor noted that it is less than the allowable 50’ wide (I think he indicated 32’ wide). Also, they have minimized disturbance at the access points by partially spanning from the toe of the existing slope to the trestle. We did not review the access point at Sta. 22+50. If the access ramps need to be adjusted, Stephen reminded the contractor that they would need to be granted permission for any changes. They are not planning to change the access ramps at this time. Please let me know if there are questions. Thank you for meeting me, Stephen! We are planning on visiting this project for our “first Wednesday” ride through in Onslow County on February 1, 2023.
