HomeMy WebLinkAbout20100408 Ver 1_EBX Response to Year 4_20150220PrOx Memorandum To: Katie Merritt From: Aaron Speaks Date: February 13, 2015 Re: Rudolph Buffer Bank, Johnston County Ms. Merritt, In regards to the Year 4 monitoring report comments at the Rudolph Buffer Bank having vegetation plots not meeting the success criteria, EBX an RES company will be doing supplemental plating to ensure stem counts meet the criteria set forth in the Bank Parcel Development Plan for the Rudolph Buffer Bank. North Carolina State University is currently conducting a continuing vegetation study at the Rudolph Bank assessing survivability rates using different mechanical and chemical treatments within the various random vegetation plots. The monitoring report shows low and failing stem counts in five vegetation plots 2 -1, 2 -2, 2 -3, 4 -1, and 4 -3. No supplemental planting will occur within the vegetation plots due to the ongoing vegetation study being conducted. Supplemental planting will occur around vegetation plots not meeting the success criteria and where overall stem counts are lacking. Mortality during the first four years of establishment from deer browse or other extenuating circumstances will be addressed in these areas. Planting of the supplemental trees is scheduled for the last week of February, before our planned site visit in April. EBX would like to request the credit release associated with Monitoring Year 4 for the Rudolph Buffer Bank based on overall stem success. Please, if you have any questions do not hesitate to call me. Respectfully, Aaron Speaks
