5. PROCESS INFORMATION
5.1 Please provide a brief narrative concerning materials handling and processing, including the following:
1. How will the animal waste product be handled and transported from where they are produced to
where they will be treated? Waste products are removed from underneath the rabbit cages into a
wheel barrel, waste is then transferred to the compost area located directly behind the rabbitry.
2. Where will the animal waste residuals be stored until processing? Waste products are stored under
each cage in individual trays until processing.
How will the animal waste be treated and what will be the duration of treatment of the animal
waste product? Provide detailed description and all necessary calculations, designs, site maps, and
supporting documentation Trays are emptied three (3) times per week for composting via the
Windrow Composting Method. Piles are turned five (5) times per week and manure is composted
for fifteen (15) days to reach a desired temperature of 55° C. Property is outlined in orange on the
map below. Designated areas are marked to indicate composting and storage areas.

3. Where will the final product be stored? The final product will be stored in fifty (50) pound
commodity textile sacks in the lower ground floor storage area.
4. How will leachate collection from the raw product storage, treatment facility, and finished product
storage be handled? Due to the drier nature of rabbit manure minimal leachate is expected
however, collections will be made and used as liquid feed for red worm production. Worms are
contained in bins and excess leachate will be stored in plastic five (5) gallon utility buckets with
lids for future use.
5. How long will the final product be stored before being distributed? Two weeks.

6. How will the final product be distributed (packaging), if applicable? The final product will be
distributed in commodity textile sacks. However, in the future the fmal product will be distributed
in five, ten, and twenty pound heat sealed polybags.
5.2 Please provide a sampling and monitoring plan that describes how the animal waste residuals will
comply with Sections 3 and 4 of this application. [15A NCAC 02T .1310 (b)] In accordance with [15A
NCAC 02T .1310 (b)] frequency stipulated for Greater than zero but less than 290 Metric Tons per 365 day
period animal waste residuals will be tested once per year. A report of all monitoring and reporting
requirements specified in the permit shall be submitted to the Division by the permittee annually, on or
before March 1st of each calendar year. Additionally, all records shall be retained for five years. Testing
will be completed by the NC Department of Agriculture or Statesville Analytical.
5.3 Please attach a marketability statement detailing destinations and approximate amounts of the final product
to be distributed. [15A NCAC 02T .1310 (b)] Final product will be sold to individuals for personal use with a
maximum of ten -cubit yards per year. Wholesale bulk sales groups are farmers and producers. The remaining
product will be distributed to hardware and lawn and garden stores Minimum retail order amounts will be sixty
pounds which will be sold in five, ten, or twenty pound heat sealed polybags. Conservatively approximately
2,000 pounds of final product for retail, 4,000 pounds for wholesale and 500 pounds in individual sales.
5.4 Please provide either a label, which shall be affixed to the bagged processed animal waste residual, or an
information sheet, which shall be provided to the person who receives the processed animal waste residual. The
label or information sheet shall contain, at a minimum, the following information [15A NCAC 02T .1310 (b)] :
7. The name and address of the person who prepared the animal waste residual that is sold or given
away in a bag or other container for application to the land.
8. A statement that application of the animal waste residual to the land is prohibited except in
accordance with the instructions on the label or information sheet.
9. A statement that animal waste residuals must be applied at agronomic rates and recommended
rates for intended uses.
10. A statement that the animal waste residuals shall not be applied to any site that is flooded, frozen,
or snow-covered.
11. A statement that adequate procedures shall be provided to prevent surface runoff from carrying
any disposed or stored animal waste residuals into any surface waters.
12. A statement which identifies that this material shall be prevented from entering any public or
private water supply source (including wells) and any stream, lake, or river.
13. The pollutant concentrations for the pollutants listed in Section 3 above measured to be in the
animal waste residual.
14. The nitrogen and phosphorus concentration in the animal waste residual.
