The plant flow is of a domestic and commercial nature. There are no industrial dischargers into the town's collection system. Wastewater flow to the treatment plant is screened by a mechanical bar screen. A manual grit removal chamber follows the headworks. After preliminary treatment, the flow is directed to the Oxidation ditch for secondary treatment. Flow is then split into two secondary clarifiers for solids settling. The effluent of the clarifiers is combined and flow to the chlorination/dichlorination chamber for disinfection. After dichlorination the effluent flow is measured and post aerated before discharge to Contentnea Creek.
