You will then select the Public Notice to modify the NCDMS- Devil's Alley Mitigation Site. M.Haywood@usace.army.miI 1 Project Description: The Devils Alley Mitigation Site proposes restoration and enhancement of 7,092 linear feet of existing streams, 2.098 acres of degraded wetlands, and 0.154 acres of drained hydric soils that have been historically altered/impacted via agricultural land uses. Stream restoration activities will include restoring appropriate dimension, pattern, and profile with Priority 1 restoration. Stabilization structures will be installed, which will also provide habitat. Native riparian buffers will be established, and livestock will be excluded from the streams and buffers. Enhancement activities include removing small existing inline impoundments, cattle exclusion, bank erosion repair and restoration of channel dimension, invasive treatment, and establishing a native woody riparian buffer. Wetland reestablishment and rehabilitation will focus on the restoration of vegetative communities, restoration of stream corridors and historic groundwater tables, and the reestablishment of soil structure and microtopographic variations. Wetland enhancement will focus on the removal of livestock and restoration of vegetative communities. Three shallow marsh treatment areas are planned at the upper reaches of the project.
