7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or
why it is necessary):
The shoreline has noticeably eroded over the past 3 years since the
property was purchased. Several feet of shoreline are eroding per year.
The erosion is encroaching upon the tree line that is set back maybe 5-10
ft from the shoreline. Therefore over time those trees would be
endangered as well.
Therefore, work is required to prevent further erosion of our property as
well as protect the vegetation and trees in the vicinity.

Along the immediate shoreline it is mainly grass and some small shrubs.
There is a line of trees of varying age and size approximately 10-15 feet
from the shoreline (at high water level) along the majority of the shoreline.
However, no trees of more than 1-2" diameter will be disturbed (and even
then every effort will be made to not disturb even small trees of that size).
We do not anticipate any problems doing so given the 10+ feet available
immediately along the shoreline. There is one or two large trees
immediately on the shore, but, as indicated above, we will not disturb
them and will work with the contractors to find a way to preserve despite
the extensive erosion that has already occurred near and under them.

Once the application has been accepted. You will need to send a corresponding fee in with the appropriate DWR#. The
application fee is as follows (pursuant to G.S. 143-215.3D):
o $240.00 for impacts to lake (below normal water level) of less than 1 acre
o $570.00 for impacts to lake (below normal water level) of greater or equal to 1 acre
