The Ashville Regional office is aware that MW1.MW4 and MW7 are located at the compliance boundary and expect to utilize them to continue monitoring at the
compliance boundary.
7 Is the permittee implementing previously approved actions required by the Division involving this YES NO
groundwater quality problem?
If the answer to question 7 is"YES", describe those actions in the space provided below.
If the answer to question 7 is "NO'; contact the Regional Office within 90 days;an evaluation may be
required to determine the impact the waste disposal system is having at the review and compliance
boundaries surrounding this facility. Failure to do so may subject the permittee to a Notice of Violation,
fines, and/or penalties.
A project is underway at the facility that includes the installation of a DAF clarifier that will provide the primary treatment function of the system and will in turn allow for the
doseing of 1 fiber trap and the liming of the other,(to be used as a back-up to the DAF),which are suspected of being the underlying cause of the high levels of iron,
barium and manganese in the groundwater at the site.The DAF and associated equipment is in full operation.The plan for closing one fiber trap and lining the other
along with lining the aeration and polishing ponds,has been submitted to and approved by the Ashville Regional Office.The project is underway and expected to be
completed in the calendar year 2023.
