HomeMy WebLinkAboutSWA000177_Plansheet 5 - Grading/Drainage Plan_20230104GRADING CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
Refer to Technical Specifications for Additional Information.
1. Off —site soils imported to the site for fill should be CL, ML, SC, SM or SP soil types as
defined by the Unified Soil Classification System. Materials used as fill beneath structural areas
(including parking and sidewalk areas) should be placed in loose lifts not exceeding 12 inches,
should be moistened or dried as necessary, compacted using suitable equipment, and compacted
to dry densities of at least 95 percent of the Standard Proctor maximum dry density (ASTM
D-698). Fill materials in landscape areas should be compacted to dry density of 90 percent if
significant subsidence of the fill under its own weight is to be avoided. It is anticipated that
field moisture contents of fill materials will need to be controlled to a range of —3 percentage
points to +2 percentage points of optimum moisture content if adequate degrees of compaction
and stable fills are to be obtained. Depending on the precipitation levels during construction,
some drying or wetting of the soils may be required in order to achieve the desired degrees of
compaction.
