This permanent ditch leads to the temporary diversion channel that ties back into the JS. The contractor has the temporary diversion channel pumped down so it is not currently flowing into the JS (IMG_9545). They are going to be removing the accumulated sediment and any contaminated rock. At culvert 10, the contractor is going to pump down the skimmer basin and pull the skimmer outlet to stop the flow path that is causing the upstream bank erosion and undermining the riprap. The contractor is then going to re-do the bank stabilization and possibly extend the bank stabilization within the already permitted permanent impact areas of the stream. I think the contractor is on the right track for getting these issues resolved. We will visit these sites next week but please let me know if can provide any additional information. The project had over 1.5in of rain over the course of the 24hr rain event that started 12/21 thru 12/22. It caused a couple of locations to have blowouts with sediment loss over a 5-gallon bucket. The locations are as follows: Y30RPA STA ~16+00 LT (NC210 Interchange) _ At culvert 10 inlet area there is a washout where the basin drains into the project. The volume of rain has cause there to be washing of the bank even with rip rap to try and help stabilize the area. L1Northern STA 851+00 LT _ 78in pipe inlet headwall blowout. L1Northern STA 851+00 RT _ 78in pipe outlet side ditch We are working on cleaning up these areas. Please let us know if you would like to come out and visit these areas.
