Baily & Nick,
I've copied the two of you in case one of you are out for the holidays. This e-mail is to satisfy the NC
DEQ Regional Office notification requirement of an exceedance related to our site, Waste Industries
LLC— Hope Mills, NPDES Permit NCG080803.
On 12/12/2022 we received attached results relaying TSS was at 156 mg/L during the 4th quarter
sampling period. We are evaluating the pond and other controls in place to prevent additional
exceedances.
Please reply to me if you have any questions.
Happy Holidays!

RE: Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Reports
Dear Mr. Freeman:
Enclosed are the following documents regarding the stormwater discharge analytical monitoring
report for the sample collection completed on 30 NOVEMBER 2022. These reports need either
the signature of the facility manager or the signature of another (designated) senior company
official.
• We uploaded the DMR data into NCDEQ's eDMR system today.
o A copy of the DMR is provided.
• Sign at the lower left of the BMP Checklists #6.
o Insert the signed Checklists #6 into the SWPPP binder at Appendix F.
• Insert the enclosed Laboratory Report and this letter into the SWPPP binder at Appendix
F.
o Do not mail the lab report to NCDEQ — it is not requested.
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) exceeds its benchmark value in this sample. A Tier One action is
required; refer to the Permit at Part E, Paragraph E-5.
These enclosed reports satisfy the analytical and qualitative monitoring requirements for the 4th
Quarter of Year 2022 as specified in General Permit NCG080000.
We can collect the next sample during the 1 " Quarter 2023. If you have any questions, do not
hesitate to call.

QUALIFIERS
Project: WI -HOPE MILLS
Pace Project No.: 92639191
DEFINITIONS
DF - Dilution Factor, if reported, represents the factor applied to the reported data due to dilution of the sample aliquot.
ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit.
TNTC - Too Numerous To Count
J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit.
MDL -Adjusted Method Detection Limit.
PQL - Practical Quantitation Limit.
RL - Reporting Limit - The lowest concentration value that meets project requirements for quantitative data with known precision and
bias for a specific analyte in a specific matrix.
S - Surrogate
1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is
a combined concentration.
Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values.
LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate)
MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate)
DUP - Sample Duplicate
RPD - Relative Percent Difference
NC - Not Calculable.
SG - Silica Gel - Clean -Up
U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected.
Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether.
A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA
Method 8260.
N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for
each analyte is a combined concentration.
Reported results are not rounded until the final step prior to reporting. Therefore, calculated parameters that are typically reported as
"Total" may vary slightly from the sum of the reported component parameters.
