RE: Public Hearing for Dillsboro dam removal
Michael F. Easley, Governor
William G. Ross Jr., Secretary
North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources
Coleen H. Sullins, Director
Division of Water Quality
Attached is a copy of the CD of the application for the Dillsboro dam removal which is the subject of the
public hearing on September 25 at Western Carolina. Periann Russell and I will be in Highlands on Spet 24
and 25 working on stream mapping with the Town of Highlands so we can readily meet you at the site if you
want to see the dam before the hearing. Please advise as to your interest in doing a site visit. After looking at
the CD, if you need any additional information, please advise.
The public notice states that the hearing will start at 6 pm but the building is only available starting at 6
pm. Therefore, Periann and I will be there a starting at 5':30 pm begging WCU staff to let us in early to set up
the hearing. if that is not possible, there may be some delay and confusion in starting the hearing and I
apologize in advance for that confusion.
I will copy you on all relevant correspondence to the public from before the hearing and of course, with
all comments received after the hearing. I can be reached at 919-733-9646 if you have any questions.
Thankx.
