Mr. Boss,

The wastewater treatment plant was found to be in violation of the SOC for the month of
October. Upon review of the data, it was found that we were out of compliance for the monthly
and weekly average TSS and BOD monthly and weekly average.
We found that during this time we had a kill off our bacteria in the aeration basin due to an
unknown slug flow. Our data shows that the alkalinity in our plant dropped to 70 reducing our
PH buffering ability. We also noted that the conductivity raised in the plant. This caused a
disturbance in the secondary clarifiers and very poor settling. We struggled with this for a few
weeks during October. Towards the end of the month, we started bouncing back and only failed
one BOD weekly parameter the first week of November. We will continue to monitor and try to
identify the point source of the slug.
