The existing conditions of the stream are the following: vegetative debris and sandbar blocking the natural flow of the channel to NCDOT inlet. This stream drains a major portion of
stormwater from the Town of Carolina Shores/Calabash area.

original depth of construction.

erosion. Brunswick County will follow the USACE Woody Debris Removal Guidelines, Hurricane Matthew Stream and Wetland Cleanup/Restoration
Guidelines, and USACE Nationwide Permit 3 rules.

Job Description: The proposed project will clean out approximately 162ft. of silt/debris
(sandbar) from Shingletree Swamp using a long reach excavator. The proposed project will
restore the channel to the original depth of construction. Please see photos below.
All silt debris and woody debris be place in uplands. All disturbed areas will be seeded with
coastal seed mix to prevent erosion.
Estimated time to complete project: 40 hours
Equipment needed: long -reach excavator (rented) 24 hours $10,000.00, Pickup Truck (OS19103)
10 hours $228.50, Chainsaws, gas, and oil, $100.00
Materials needed:
Coastal grass mix, $100.00
Excelsior erosion control blanket $500.00
Sod staples $20.00
Man hours: Abram Young (coordinator) 40 hours $1,270.80, Adam Canady (operator) 40 hours
