The Killian Creek WWTP NC0088722 Received a notice of violation NOV-2022-LV-0848 for exceeding limits on
Nitrogen, Ammonia Total (as N) during week one.
8/18/2022 an employee was transferring sludge from Digester #1 to the Sludge Holding Tank, and left the
transfer unattended which resulted in overflowing the Sludge Holding Tank. The Sludge Holding Tank Overflow
then was introduced into the Killian Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (KCWWTP) Main Drain in the amount
of approximately 65,000 gallons of sludge (with High amounts of NH3-N) and then to the Sequential Batch
Reactor (SBR) which caused the KCWWTP to be out of limits on Ammonia (NH3-N) for the month of August
2022 and the first week in September 2022. The employee was written up and a new SOP was written for
transferring sludge.
