(CEC) is notifying the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) that the Pilgrim's Pride facility identified above will be commencing with construction of two (2) BMPs being installed on Outfall 001 and Outfall 003. These BMPs have been selected to assist the Sanford Processing Plant (Site) with continuing compliance with the referenced general permit. On behalf of Pilgrim's Pride, CEC requested from NCDEQ via emails (see attachment) clarification on the need to notify and/or permit the construction of the selected BMPs. To date, we have not received an answer to our inquiry. The Site has planned and budgeted for the construction of the BMPs in the first quarter of 2023. Without receiving comments from NCDEQ prior to January 16th, the Site will notify the selected contractors to start work. Pilgrim's Pride and CEC greatly appreciation the critical work that DEQ provides for the state. Please contact Bruce Reilly at 980-260-2130 if you have any questions or need additional information.
