Southern Soil Builders sent a sample to Par labs for vector attraction reduction option 3 analysis - Par does not have certification for V.A.R. - I have contacted Chet and he is pursuing this with Par. 2. Southern Soil Builders sent a sample to Statesville Analytical labs for the Fecal MPN test - Statesville Analytical set insufficient dilutions and all 7 samples were reported as ">" values - thus compliance with the 2 million value limit could not be determined. I do not know if historically the dilutions used would have yielded discrete values and this was an unusually high value or if the data has been historically reported as ">" values. Chet is also following up with this. 3. Southern Soil builders sent the site soil sample to the NC Dept of Agriculture lab for metals. The NC Dept. of Agriculture lab is not certified to analyze these samples. They are only certified by our program to analyze animal waste samples or soils from fields where animal waste will be land applied. They are not certified for 503 testing -that is, sludge or the soil it is being applied to. 4. Statesville Analytical subcontracted samples to Tritest lab and then Tritest subcontracted to Environment Science Corp. (ESC) which analyzed the TCLP Herbicides by Method 8150 for which ESC was not certified to perfarm f7ose analyses. Tritest did not include a copy of the lab report from ESC as required nor did ESC label the data as non certified as required. I have followed up with a phone call to Tritest and the Tritest lab auditor in Raleigh. They have been written up for this in their last report and this should not occur again. I will follow up with the issues at ESC when I inspect that lab in May. If you want me to call or write to Sothern Soil Builders or spruce Pine I will be glad to. If there is anything else i can do let me know.
