Inspection Summary:
On December 2, 2022, MRO staff performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection at the Watel's Edge WWTP under permit
WQ0002001. During the site visit, it was observed that there is excessive vegetation growing in the berm around the storage
lagoon. Some of this vegation is woody. Woody vegetation indicates the potential for the berm to become compromised.
Please remove the woody growth from the berm wall. No animal burrows were observed to be present in the lagoon berm
walls.
Although there were geese present, no nests were present in the high grass in the lagoon berm.
The system meter appears to be in good condition. The ORC reports no observed indications of irregularities with the flow
meter readings. To check the meter is adequately reading flow, a bucket test can be performed. However, Section III
Operation and Mainteneace Requirements, Line 16: Metering equipment shall be tested and calibrated annually. [154 NCAC
02T .0507(d)].

Comment: During the site visit, it was observed that the proper tablets are being used for disinfection.
This is not a dual -feed system. There are no chlorine tanks associated with the facility.

Comment: Monitor well 1 is scheduled to be replaced. The schedule date for the replacement well is
March 2023. MRO staff will be notified when a date is fixed. The well needs to be drilled
deeper to be able to be at the groundwater interface. MRO staff intends to be present during
the well replacement event.
