Boggs Paving vice president pleads guilty
to fraud

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An employee of a construction company accused of
defrauding the government appeared in federal court Thursday.
The company's vice president joined other co-workers who have pleaded
guilty of fraud.
Greg Tucker, who worked as a project manager and estimator for Boggs
Paving, didn't answer Channel 9's questions as he left court with his
attorney.
Tucker agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the U.S
Department of Transportation as part of a plea agreement.
Federal investigators said Tucker was part of a scheme with his company,

Boggs Paving, that scored federal and state funded contracts by saying
disadvantaged business enterprises would do some of the work.
Court records allege Boggs used another company as a pass through to
obtain the work, even putting magnetic stickers with that company's logo
over the Boggs logo.
Tucker could face a maximum of five years in prison for his role.
Boggs' chief financial officer, Kevin Hicks, pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Company project manager, Arnold Mann, pleaded guilty last month.
It makes three of eight defendants who have pleaded guilty in connection with the $87 million fraud case.
