I started pumping at 8:00am to finish the pull. The gun was 1/2 way in when I started the
pump. After the gun got all the way in I pulled it back out to the maximus pull. My plan was to
turn the pump when I got it 1/2 way in where I wouldn't pump on the part of the field that was
pumped on that morning. I checked the reel every hour to male sure it didn't go past halfway. I
got occupied at another location and didn't get back in time to stop the gun from pumping in the
low area. When I did get back, the gun had pumped in the low area for about 15-30 minutes. I
turned the pump off immediately, waste was ponding in the low spot, but it hasn't started running
into the woods yet. I hauled 10 loads of dirt to the edge of the woods to build a berm to keep
water from going into the woods. Then I dug a big hole in front of the dirt to catch the
wastewater that drained that way. The next morning I took a pump and pumped wastewater out
of the hole into our nurse tank. I pumped out 1100 gallons of wastewater out of the hole. I then
pumped the wastewater back into the lagoon. I returned to the hole and saw that no more water
was draining in there, so I covered it back up.
On this pull, in the future I will make sure to stay onsite the whole time the pump is
running, so I can turn the gun to Y2 where the wastewater will not come in contact with the low
area.
