SUBJECT: Daily Maximum and Weekly Average Limits for Marion-Corpening Creek
WWTP
NPDES Permit No. NC0031879
McDowell County
The Instream Assessment Unit has reviewed the Town of Marion's request for
daily maximum and weekly average limits for the metals limits in the NPDES permit. The
weekly average and daily maximum limits are in units of p.g/1 and are as follows :

Cadmium 3 7.5
Chromium 75 300
Nickel 132 528
Lead 37 51
Cyanide 7.5 30
Mercury 0.02 0.08
Regarding the mercury limits, since both values are below the detection limit of 0.2
1.1g/1, the town should be informed that values reported below detection will be considered
in compliance. Marion should also consider if the option for a weekly average/daily
maximum limit for mercury would be beneficial, since both values are so stringent.

The permit is scheduled to issue on April 1.
