The Technical Support Branch has completed its review concerning
an ammonia limit for the subject facility. Because of a record of
consistent compliance with its chronic toxicity requirement since
June, 1988, we do not anticipate the addition of an ammonia limit to
the Marion permit upon renewal. However, it should be noted that if
the Marion facility should begin to fail its toxicity test, and
there are indications that ammonia is the cause, a limit of 1.3 mg/1
of ammonia should be applied. Also, we concur with the recommend-
ation by the Water Quality Chief for weekly effluent monitoring for
ammonia .
