I RT,
NCDMS is requesting IRT approval of a Adaptive Management Plan for supplemental planting. A copy
of the AMP request memo is attached. Per Section 332.8(o)(9) of the 2008 Mitigation Rule, this
review follows the streamlined review process, which requires an IRT review period of 15 calendar
days from this email notification. Please provide any comments by 5 PM on November 12, 2022.
Comments provided after the 15-day comment deadline may not be considered. At the conclusion
of this comment period, a copy of all comments will be provided to NCDMS and the NCIRT along
with District Engineer's intent to approve or disapprove this AMP.
NCDMS is requesting to supplementally plant 2.04 acres of 9.6 total acres or 21% of the planted area
this winter at Mud Lick Creek. The MY4 report indicated 4 vegetation plots failed due to herbaceous
competition and sweetgum. Additionally, during the 6/4/2021 credit release site visit, the IRT noted
several areas of low stem densities and/or low vigor and many plots had evidence of deer browse.
All species proposed are from the approved mitigation plan and will be mix of 1 gallon and 3 gallon
containerized trees. Baker Engineering will be providing the supplemental planting services.
Please note this AMP request is for a design -bid -build DMS project in Monitoring Year 5. Please let
me know if you are okay with the proposed species, or if you would like to request any additional
plots or monitoring.
