Here are some of the observations /discussion points covered in the meeting: 1. As expected, the terrain of the Brickhaven Mine property has been severely altered by mining activities - even in some areas where no mining has occurred. 2. Isolated and jurisdictional wetlands as well as jurisdictional streams were delineated on the property. The streams were first or second order - none had flowing water in them. Most of the wetlands were naturalized in depressions created by mining activities. It is planned that many of these will be impacted. The site of the proposed repository will first be mined for clay before being lined for the coal ash. The coal ash will be placed in shallow pits above groundwater. 4. They are looking at a 10 -year timeline (or less) for the mining and placement of coal ash. The consultants expressed an urgency in getting the JD's completed and the IP approved. 5. Clearwater wants to combine the Brickhaven and Colon mines in a single IP to be submitted at the end of January or early February. 6. Jean and I are scheduled to do the JD on the Colon Mine January 13th. 7. A pre -app meeting is planned, at the Brickhaven Mine, on January 27th.
