Inspection Summary:
Inspection was in response to an application for coverage under the NCG05.
The facility manufactures packaging for health care products.
It was noted that the facility can make some improvements to housekeeping and waste storage. Small pieces of paper
product were observed throughout the exterior of the facility near the dust collector and loading docs. The dust collector
collects paper fines inside the warehouse and makes compacted paper nuggets that are deposited into a trash receptacle.
The dust collector conveyance to the trash receptacle is open and it appears that paper escapes the system regularly.
Waste and chemicals are stored outside the facility in a storm -resistant shelter attached to the facility. The drums that store
ink and glues did not have secondary containment measures. There appeared to be glue and ink residue staining the outside
of the drums. Several drums of other chemicals/materials were stored without a cap. Two drums of a white substance were
stored open without a lid. There were also buckets of unlabeled substances, possibly ink or used oil, stored in this area. All
waste chemicals will need to be stored in proper secondary containment, with lids and should be properly closed. Waste
materials should not be left in buckets in the area. Small paper pieces were observed at the facility outfall and have been
conveyed into the woods by rain events. This will improve once a preventative maintenance and good housekeeping plan is i
place in accordance with permit requirements.
Manufacturing activities take place within the facility and no issues were observed other than those listed above.
Coverage is recommended.
