RE: Syriagro. Tanker Spill on 10/24/15'in Cumberland County NC.
Mr: Barber, this letter is in response to. the tanker spill that occurred while transporting PWC
Cross Creek WWTP residuals. 'The spill happened at approximately 6:30am in field CU-20-
08. There was approximately 1500 gallons of liquid biological residuals that were spilled due
to the tanker lid being opened. The liquid residuals ran into a drainage ditch where the truck
rolled. The truck pulled along the ditch and the driver got out to release the pressure in the -
hatch. At that time -the bank of ditch gave way and the truckitanker rolled into the drainage
ditch.
Synagro with the help of the .farmer were able to.:stop the spill from traveling more than
approximately 200 yards fromthe wreck scene. Hay bales were used to build a barrier to
contain the residuals and Synagro pumped the water/residuals from the ditch into the,spreader
tank. The material pumped from ditch was spread on field CU-20-08. Synagro applied
hydrated lime to the spill area due to the residuals being on•a Class B permit. Synagro applied
24 bags of hydrated lime to the spill area. We are including several pictures of the limed area
for your records.
