Roberto, As per our phone conversation on Thursday 11/10/2022 at 10:OOAM, we found a discrepancy in the effluent flow reading at our Crooked Creek Facility (permit #NC0069841). On 10/31/2022 our in house Instrumentation and Controls department went out to investigate the difference in Influent and Effluent flow readings. The effluent flow meter at this facility is a rectangular weir with ultrasonic level indication. Upon investigation it was found that the ultrasonic level reading was off by approximately 1/2 inch. On the morning of 11/1/2022 we had our calibration contractor CITI on site to confirm and correct the finding and provide a recalibration of the meter. At this time it is still unclear as to the degree of inaccuracy, this uncertainty is largely due to the accuracy curve during varying flows. In an effort to confirm the calibrated results, we have installed a transit time non -contact meter on the force main of the effluent pump station and plan to replace the transit time meter with a mag meter. Once the mag meter is installed and functional we may request a permit modification to use the mag meter as our permitted flow monitoring location. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Rick Mareth at 704-617-6537 or rick.mareth@unioncountync.gov or myself at any time.
