The following items must be addressed before we can complete our review. Please note that these items must be received by August 19, 1990, in order to prevent your project from being returned as incomplete: 1) The settling basins should be sized to porvide at least two (2) feet of freeboard. Please show a minimum of two (2) feet of freeboard on the plans. 2) Provide the depths of the settling ponds. If the ponds are to be excavted into bedrock or into the water table then a liner of at least 1 x 10-7 cm/sec should be provided. This should be specified on the plans. 3) The pump should be sized to provide 50 gpm at 30 feet of TDH. The friction loss in 1.5 inch pvc pipe is approximately 10 feet per 100 feet of length and with the static head of 20 feet the TDH required is 30 feet negelecting pipe fittings. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please call me at 919/ 733-5083. Sincerely, Mark E. Hawes Environmental Engineer cc: Asheville Regional Office Edward D.
