Duke Power came in to move their powerlines back without coordinating with our inspector or RE office. They came through with heavy equipment into our temporary fill area where we recently removed the temporary detour. They appeared to have gone off into adjacent wetlands off the project as well (IMG_3658- 3576). We have asked them to rake out the ruts and put down native wetland seed mix and straw mulch. We have been requiring pre-construction meetings for all of our utility relocations to try and avoid this, so we will be having conversations with Duke as to why they failed to coordinate. Although we are planning to reforest this area, this area was an existing powerline corridor before the project and will remain an easement for Duke to maintain their lines. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information. There is rutting through the temporary fill area throughout the entire length of the project. Not all the attached pictures are of wetlands. At the north end of the project, it seems they even went over our remaining silt fence into wetlands not impacted by the project (see photos 3568-3576). The only spot there was rutting on the actual slopes was at the south end of the project (see photo 3602). Overall, it’s not too bad, but there are a couple areas where the ruts are deeper. Let me know if you have any more questions!
