Drive Charlotte, N.C. 28217 Subject Dear Mr. Hobbs: NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY RALEIGH REGIONAL OFFICE Neuse river Basin Riparian Buffer Rules Saint Michael's Catholic Church NbQQO 00 -075 Wake County The information that was received by the Raleigh Regional Office on March 15, 2000 has been reviewed. The plat map and other information was provided to allow a determination to be made as to whether or not the site would require compliance with the Neuse Buffer Mule. This specific project is referenced by the Raleigh regional Office as NBRrO 00 -075. The features represented on the Wake County Soils and the Cary USGS Clad maps were evaluated to determine their subjectivity to the Neuse Buffer Rule. It was determined that the feature depicted on both maps is an unnamed tributary to Crabtree Creek and, according to the rule, this property is subject to the Neuse River Basin: Nutrient Sensitive Waters Management Strategy; Protection and Maintenance of Existing riparian Areas, Administrative Code T15A02B.0233 (NCAC 0233) . Please be reminded that the riparian buffer is protected in two zones totaling fifty feet of protection. In accordance with the rule, sheet flow from stormwater must be maintained, to the maximum extent practical, through dispersing concentrated flow through the buffer and/or reestablishment of vegetation to maintain the efficacy of the riparian area. This letter addresses only the applicability of the Neuse Buffer Mules. for information relative to the Wetlands 401 /404 issues, please contact Mr. John Dorney at 919 -733 -1786.
