Dear Ms. Bernard,
OCT 31 2022
I collected the water sample from the septic system at the above address on October 4,
2022. Jim Frei could not do the test till after November so he told me I could collect the
water sample from the septic system. I hand delivered the water sample to Pace
Analytical on Oct 4, 2022. I finally heard from them yesterday, October 26, 2022 even
though the report date was Oct 11, 2022 they never sent me the final report even though
they had my mailing address and my email address. I called them on Oct. 26, 2022 to
find out what the delay in getting the report because I did not know how long it would
take to receive the report from Pace Analytical Labs and he immediately emailed it to me
at my husband's email address.
I did not understand the report created by Jonathan Biddix of Carolina Labs and Pace
Labs so asked Jonathan to give me the results in layman's terms. He said the sample
tested at 31.00 mg/L. I am hoping that since the limits are for 45.0 mg/L that the sample
passed the test. Please advise if I am incorrect. I am enclosing a complete copy of
Jonathan's Biddix's test results.
I want to thank you for helping me during my initial phone call to find out what I should
do when the test Jim Frei took did not pass the test. Please let me know if there is
anything more I need to do.
Thank you again for all the assistance and advice you provided me to get the testing
completed.
Sincerely,
Ali z

Your results are 31.00 Milligrams per liter verses a reporting limit of 2 milligrams per Liter.
I unfortunately I cannot say whether this will pass or fail that is up to the body you are reporting the
results to. Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,

CAUTION: This email originated from outside Pace Analytical. Do not click links or open attachments

I am so sorry but I cannot tell from the report —The first test done by Jim Frei did not pass because we
had just had the system cleaned out so it did not pass. The report does not look like Jim's report so I
really cannot tell if it passed or if it failed the test. When he reported it was 64.0 with a limit of
45.0. Since I am the one who took the sample I don't know if I took the sample incorrectly or if it passed
the test with an amount of less than 45.0. I need to make a report to NC Division of Environmental
Quality and I cannot read the report well enough to give them a report. I apologize because I am
probably not reading the report correctly so could you please explain in layman's terms. Did we pass
the test or was it another failure. I hope I am making sense in this explanation. Thank you for any
assistance you may give with this.
Patricia McKenna you may text my Cell 919-280-2071
Or email at above address
Again thank you for your assistance.

DEFINITIONS
DF - Dilution Factor. if reported, represents the factor applied to the reported data due to dilution of the sample aliquot.
ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit.
TNTC - Too Numerous To Count
J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit.
MDL -Adjusted Method Detection Limit.
POL - Practical Quantitation Limit.
RL - Reporting Limit - The lowest concentration value that meets project requirements for quantitative data with known precision and
bias for a specific analyte in a specific matrix.
S - Surrogate
1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is
a combined concentration.
Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values.
LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate)
MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate)
DUP - Sample Duplicate
RPD - Relative Percent Difference
NC - Not Calculable.
SG - Silica Gel - Clean -Up
U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected.
Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether.
A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA
Method 8260.
N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for
each analyte is a combined concentration.
Reported results are not rounded until the final step prior to reporting. Therefore, calculated parameters that are typically reported as
"Total" may vary slightly from the sum of the reported component parameters.
Pace Analytical is TNI accredited. Contact your Pace PM for the current list of accredited analytes.
TNI - The NELAC Institute.
ANALYTE QUALIFIERS
R6 The RPD between valid sample dilutions exceeded 30%.
