The general introduction was initiated by Marshall Clawson. Introductions were made by all in
attendance.
General notes
• Jurisdictional calls were made in 08 and will need to be re-verified
• Wetland file needs to be updated. Non mitagable labels will be removed or changed to
mitagable.
• SMP-make sure we describe why treatment is not an option
From November 8, 2012
Sheet 4&5: -L- STA 21+90 LR & RT — Stream at Existing RCBC - Made note of commitments
made to have no impacts to stream channel. Discussed possibility for treatment of runoff but
options limited by lack of room for any treatment devices due to heavy development in the area.
Sheet 6: L- STA 42+40 RT - Existing 5'x6' RCBC Jurisdictional stream on outlet side only.
Sheet 7: L- STA 57+65 LT & RT - Existing 7x7 RCBC: The extent of the Culvert replacement
limits not finalized but there will be some impacts due to the road wideniug. Options for treatment
limited by lack of room for standard BMP's
Sheet 9: L- STA 78+80 LT & RT - Existing RCBC
Sheet 10: L- STA 96+80 LT only - Existing 30" CMP - Outfall filled-in by a private 18" CMP.
Discussed outfall pipe being undersized but that overflow from system can go overland. Noted
that NCDOT not responsible for upgrading the pipe segment off of the R/W.
From January 16, 2013
Sheet 11: Mulberry Creek Bridge Crossing —L- STA 119+60
• Briefly discussed aerial sewer crossing
• Rip rap apron at DS 1118 has no current treatment for outlet. The topography is not
conducive to using a PSH. Will investigate piping the flow away from the bridge then
dumping flow into a grassed swale.
• Look at adding some rip rap at end of the existing ditch that flows into Mulberry Creek.
Note: the proposed ditch ties to the existing ditch outlet.
• 129+80: remove JS NEU line
Sheet 12:
• Wetlands sites located on both sides of road. The wetland site on left side will probably be
considered a total loss.
• A jurisdictional feature begins at both outlets of existing 4'x5' culvert and 18" pipe.
Sheets 13-14:
Discussed preformed scour hole locations and rip rap outlets for systems that drain into the
parallel stream.
Sheet 15:
Dissipater pad at outlet is very close to the stream bank. Will double-check to see if this
creates a stream impact and maybe add a spot of bank stabilization.
Discussed proposed excavation at outlet of existing culvert because the outlet of the
existing structure is heavily silted. Asked to look at alternate options to excavating
channel. Such as replacing existing culvert, looking at upstream factors, or some type of
natural channel design with benches. Ti^ent Beaver noted that the Division 11
Environnental Officer has sone experience with this issue and nay have sone
suggestions. (Suggestion; narrow channel width, iffeasible, so increased velocities can
help self-clean channel?)
Sheet 16:
• Made note of existing rip rap in channel at outlet of existing 60" CMP.
Sheet 20: No comments
