If there is any base flow, we will have to use a pump around operation which would maintain the flow downstream. By building the coffer dam, there will be no running water through the work area which would eliminate any sediment downstream. Sincerely, J. K.eV v var&eLL ENGINEERING .MLL1 N S11 RLE. For context though (and its USFWS, not us), the concerns are two -fold. First is containing any potential sediment. Second is maintaining hydration of any potentially suitable areas downstream. Jeff — you know the area pretty well. Would you feel confident the stream would continue to flow downstream during installation? Christopher D. The current plan would be to place a coffer dam upstream of the work area and allow the stream to back up during the installation. The pipe section should be able to be completely laid in one day. If the base flows are too high to allow the water to back up, the stream flows will be pumped through silt bag and allowed to discharge below the work area. The pipe and wingwalls should be able to be installed in no more than 2 working days. Let me know if you need anything else from me on this. Sincerely, J. It typically helps if I can say that if work cannot be done in the dry, a stream pump -around or similar means of protecting downstream reaches during construction would be employed.
