• Fow Tracking for Sewer Extension Applications (FTSE 10-18)
• Project Narrative
• USGS Site Map
• Check No. 123398 in the amount of $480.00 to cover the permit application fee.
The project narrative has more detail regarding the scope of this project and the reason for the permit
request, but briefly, the Town of Apex and McAdams request a permit for the Williams Grove Lift Station to
have a permitted flow of 100 gallons per minute (GPM) with 1,675 LF of 4-inch C900 PVC and DIP force
main.
I trust the above information is sufficient for your review; however, if you should have any questions or need
additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 919.828.0531 or by email at

PROJECT NARRATIVE
WILLIAMS GROVE PUMP STATION Raleigh Regional pmce
TOWN OF' APEX/MCADAMS — WILLIAMS GROVE SUBDIVISION
APEX, NORTH CAROLINA
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project proposes adding a pump station to convey wastewater produced by a proposed subdivision
currently being designed by The McAdams Company, to be called the Williams Grove Pump Station.
This pump station will be in the Town of Apex in Wake County, North Carolina.
The Williams Grove subdivision will contain 156 homes. Consequently, the addition of gravity sewer,
force main, and the pump station are necessary to ensure that the homes are supplied with sufficient
wastewater services. The pump station will be installed to ensure that wastewater from the subdivision
can reach the Western Wake Regional Water Reclamation Facility.
Please note this application is only for the pump station and the force main associated with the installation
of this pump station and does not include the gravity sewer. The gravity sewer will be permitted in a
separate application. This pump station has a design flow of 57,600 GPD and the pump will have an
operating point of 100 GPM with 52 ft TDH. The force main to be installed will comprise approximately
1,350 linear feet (LF) ofC900 PVC and approximately 325 LF ductile iron pipe (DIP).

TWC No.3257-BP
Dear Mr. Thomas:
120 N. Boylan Avenue
Raleigh, NC 27603
(919) 828-0531
On behalf of the Town of Apex and McAdams please see below and attached for our response to your
comments for the above referenced project.
1. The receiving collection system permit number is WQCS00064. We have revised page 1 of the
application to reflect this and have included it in this submission for review.
2. Noted. Please see attached
3. See responses below:
a The flow projections generated to size the pump station and its force main were created
using Town design standards. Per page 8 of the Town's Wastewater Collection Systems
design specification (Sec. 700), the Town's design standard for gravity sewer installations
is 300 gal/day.
b Yes, the Town will be permitting the gravity sewer in the future through its delegated
authority. Thank you for proceeding with your review — please let us know if further
questions arise.
I trust the above information is sufficient for your review; however, if you should have any questions or need
additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 919.828.0531 or by email at

Subject: WQ0043728 - Williams Grove Pump Station (Wake)
Hello,
2
After a review of the submitted sewer extension application for the Williams Grove Pump Station project, we have the
following questions:
1. The submitted application (FTA 06-21) is missing an answer for V.3. Please provide the permit number of the
receiving collection system (WQCSXXXXX).
2. The submitted application provided a topographic map of the approximate location of the pump station, but we
also need an aerial/satellite map for our records.
a
F. Site Maps (All Application Packages):
❑ Submit an 8.5-inch x 11-inch color copy of a USGS Topographic Map of sufficient scale to identify th
including the closest surface Waters_
> General location of the project components (gravity sewer, pump stations, & force main)
> Downstream connection points and permit number (if known) for the receiving sewer
❑ Include an aerial location map showing general project area (such as street names or latitude/longitude)
can easily locate it in the field.
3. The application indicates that it is only for the construction of a pump station and 1,675 LF of 4" force main, but
no gravity line. The application also includes a flow value of approximately 46,800 GPD (using 300 gal/day (?)
for 156 units with a note stating that the gravity sewer will be permitted as part of a separate application).
a. The application used 300 gal/day for the daily design flow. Please ensure that the 2T rules are utilized
when determining the design flow values. Please describe how you came up with 300 gal/day.
b. Will the associated gravity sewer be submitted as an application to DWR or is this something the Town of
Apex will be permitting through delegated authority?
i. If it will be done through the Town, we will proceed with the review of the application as is,
pending the other questions are answered from above.
ii. If it will be submitted to DWR in a future application, it will be advantageous to include this flow
in the future application.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Zach Thomas
