Dear Mr. Poupart:
Duke Energy respectfully submits this letter to amend our existing NPDES application under which the
plant currently operates. The amendment is to disclose the use of ChemTreat P896L, see attached SDS.
The product is a water clarification agent Duke Energy intends to use in our water treatment system to
help the Reverse -Osmosis, RO, Media Filter capture finer particulates in the service water to decrease
the silt density in the water at the RO inlet. Also, increased the estimated quantity used per year for the
Eco Ultimate product in the ash basins. SDS attached. See updates in bold type. Please include this
with the relevant permit files.
Based on discussion, it is our understanding that with this modification to the existing permit
application, a permit modification will not be required and Duke is authorized to utilize this additive.
Should you have any questions regarding this submittal or require additional information, please contact
Joyce Dishmon at (336) 623-0238 or email joyce.dishmon@duke-energy.com.
