Academy St.) in Ahoskie, Hertford County. WBS # 17BP.1.R.58 The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a General Permit 291 and corresponding 401 Water Certification for the replacement of Bridge # 33 in Hertford County. The bridge is located on NC 42 approximately 0.40 miles west of the intersection with US 13. The bridge spans Ahoskie Creek, which is classified by DWQ as class "C, NSW" waters. Bridge # 33 is currently a channel beam prestressed concrete structure on timber piles that is 200 ft. long by 32 ft. wide. This structure will be removed using NCDOT's guidelines for bridge removal. The proposed bridge will be replaced on its existing alignment. The new bridge structure will be 210' long by 52' wide on precast concrete girders. Jurisdictional wetland and surface water impacts have been minimized, resulting in no wetland impacts and no jurisdictional stream impacts. An off -site detour will be utilized during construction.
