To Whom It May Concern:
ECS Southeast, LLP (ECS) is pleased to provide additional follow up information to continue the
North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office's (SHPO) review of projects subject to
applicable federal and/or state cultural resources protection laws.
Background
The site is located at Oak Street and Hickory Grove Road in Belmont, Gaston County, North
Carolina. According to the Gaston County GIS Database website, the Parcel Identification
Number (PIN) is 305367 (44 acres). An initial report was submitted to SHPO on May 26, 2022
indicating that according to the NCSHPO On -Line GIS Database, no known historically
significant resources were identified within the Project Study Area. On August 5, 2022, a
request for additional information was received from SHPO.
Historic and Cultural Resources Review
On August 10, 2022, ECS personnel conducted additional site reconnaissance within the
Project Study Area and surrounding properties to document any potentially significant historical
resources with the potential to be 50 years or older. No structures were identified within the
Project Study Area. Representative photos of on -site conditions as well as photographs and
descriptions of all directly adjacent properties are provided in the photolog below. Client
provided preliminary site development plans are attached. During our initial review of the
NCSHPO On -Line GIS Database, no historically significant sites were identified within the
project study area. The closest historical structure, identified as GS2350: House and Automobile
Service Garage, is located approximately 150 feet to the northwest of the site boundary and it.
Several additional historically significant sites are located within 1500 feet of the project study
area.
