Mr. Brad Shaver

Wilmington, NC 28403
Dear Mr. Shaver,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division would like to
perform Maintenance Dredging at the Southport and Ft. Fisher Ferry Operations and we
are requesting a NW 35 and 16 permit. It will consist of dredging the State channels and
Ferry basins. Approximately 130,416 cubic yards will be removed from the Southport
side and approximately 206,075 cubic yards will be removed from the Ft. Fisher side.
Both spoil sites are large enough to accommodate the estimated amount of dredged
material from their respective sides. NCDOT Ferry Division has a CAMA Major Permit
(#561) to perform this activity. I have included a PCN and permit drawing with this
letter. If you need any additional information please give me a call at (252) 491-2635.
