I just received the subject document dated May 15, today. Unfortunately
I need you to fix a few things on the letter for Tommy's signiture and
send back to me.
1. The letterhead should not be that for Gov. Hunt and Sec. Holman.
2. The footer on the letter should be for the Director not the Branch

3. We need to have the Subject describe what the letter is. I would L/
recomment that you change "Application for Water Quality Certification"
to Denial of Water Quality Certification Request".
4. We also need to add the project name to the Subject.
5. Make the last sentance in the third paragrapy ( the one that starts
Finally, we are available - - - ) a new paragraph. I would also
recomment that you drop "Finally" from the sentance and have it read "We
are available - - - "..
6. Then please look at moving the forth sentance of the second paragraph
(the one that starts "In particular providing - - - ") to the end of the ?-?
new paragraph created by #4 above. I would also recommend tha you drop
"In particular" and have the sentance read "Providing compensatory - - -
7. I know tha you like to get everything on as few pages as possible but
to me the font on this letter is too small. I would not recommend that
you or anyone else ever use less that Times 12. This is a denial that
will not make them happy. We therefore do not need to do anything that
will give them anything to pick at like "the print was so small that
they could not read it".
John I realize that you and your Unit do a huge amount of work but I
really need your help with issues like the wrong letter head and
footers. That happens way too often and waste both your time and mine.
Please ask Natasha or whoever to help you with things like this.
