All wastewater from the Barium Springs Home for Children facility is now conveyed to the Town of Troutman's sanitary sewer system. The permittee will need to initiate and complete closure activities prior to requesting permit rescission. The last compliance evaluation inspection at this facility was performed by DWR staff on 7/16/20. Record Keeping Are records kept and maintained as required by the permit? Discharge Monitoring Reports (eDMRs) were reviewed from August 2021 through July 2022. BOD effluent limit violations (2-daily maximum and 2 — monthly average) were reported in August, September and October 2021. Daily maximum effluent fecal coliform violations were reported in December 2021 and January and March 2022. The facility staff failed to monitor total nitrogen and total phosphorus during the first quarter of 2022. The Division has previously addressed these limit violations through the issuances of NOV/civil penalty assessments. Laboratory Are field parameters performed by certified personnel or laboratory? Comment: The permittee and ORC must ensure the wastewater treatment facility does not discharge prior to the completion of all closure activities. All wastewater in the imhoff tank, dosing tank (with syphons) and chlorine contact chamber must be removed and properly disposed. All used sand must also be properly disposed.
