1. Introduction:
The purpose of this Stormwater Report is to document the stormwater management plan for
the MacRidge &t Chicken Road Intersection Improvement Project. The project stormwater
control measures are two bio-retention systems. The Appendix of this report contains the
stormwater hydraulic calculation outputs from Pond Pack, a pre -development map, a post -
development map, and a soils inspection report.
2. Project Location:
The project site is located on Fort Bragg at the intersection of MacRidge and Chicken Roads
(projects shown below in red on ESRI World Road Map).

The existing property is mostly a road corridor with grassed shoulders and some woods. The
NRCS soil maps show that the site is mostly Hydrologic Soil Group B and C soils (see Soils Map
in Appendix).
Soil Infiltration: The soils report performed by Hal Owen &t Associates Inc. is included with
this report. Even though the native soils at the depths of the stormwater control measures
will provide good infiltration (2 to 6 in/hr), all bio-retention systems have been designed with
underdrain systems with upturned elbows. Per the NCDEQ Stormwater manual, if the
infiltration rate is 2 in/hr or greater, then internal water storage (IWS) is not required, but
IWS have been included in the bioretention systems.

5. Proposed Stormwater Treatment and Quality Control:
The proposed bio-basin (SCM#1) provides water quality treatment. The water quality
treatment volume is detained and will be drawndown slowly through the media and
underdrain system.
Water Quality Volume Provided in SCM (1.54-inch of runoff) = 5,145 cu. Ft.
Water Quality Volume Required for contributing Drainage Area (1-inch) = 3,330 cu. Ft.
The proposed bio-basin (SCM#2) provides water quality treatment. The water quality
treatment volume is detained and will be drawndown slowly through the media and
underdrain system.
Water Quality Volume Provided in SCM (1.8-inch of runoff) = 1,330 cu. Ft.
Water Quality Volume Required for contributing Drainage Area (1-inch) = 710 cu. Ft.

6. Proposed Stormwater Attenuation and Quantity Control:
The pre- and post -development peak discharge attenuation requirement was assessed for
the entire development site. The site peak discharge is reduced during the post -
development condition for the 1-yr storm event.

Reference: Soil Scientist Investigation for Stormwater
Chicken Road and MacRidge Road, Fort Bragg
Dear Mr. Rose,
A site investigation has been conducted for the above referenced property, located on the
southeast of the intersection of Chicken Road and MacRidge Road in Fayetteville, Cumberland
County, North Carolina. The purpose of this investigation was to provide a general
characterization of the soils in the area proposed for a stormwater infiltration device, including a
determination of the depth to evidence of a seasonal high water table and estimation of the
permeability of the various soil layers. In -situ hydraulic conductivity testing was not conducted.
All soil characteristics were described in accordance with the USDA Field Book for Describing
and Sampling Soils. This report represents my professional opinion as a Licensed Soil Scientist.
Two stormwater control measures (SCM) are proposed at the site (Figure 1). A hand -
powered auger boring was used to make soil observations at each SCM location. Detailed soil
profile descriptions for each observation are attached to this report. A red ribbon flag was hung
at each auger boring to facilitate survey location for the elevation. Soil morphological
characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 72 and 108
inches below surface at SCM I and SCM 2, respectively. Infiltration rates (permeability) of the
soil materials are most limited to approximately 1.0 in/hr in the sandy loam layer starting at
about 60 inches below surface at SCM 1 and about 108 inches below surface at SCM 2.

This addendum addresses additional data collected at SCM 3 after the final report was
submitted. A site investigation has been conducted for the above referenced property, located on
the southeast of the intersection of Chicken Road and MacRidge Road in Fayetteville,
Cumberland County, North Carolina. The purpose of this investigation was to provide a general
characterization of the soils in the area proposed for a stormwater infiltration device, including a
determination of the depth to evidence of a seasonal high water table and estimation of the
permeability of the various soil layers. In -situ hydraulic conductivity testing was not conducted.
All soil characteristics were described in accordance with the USDA Field Book for Describing
and Sampling Soils. This report represents my professional opinion as a Licensed Soil Scientist.
Hand -powered auger borings were used to make soil observations at SCM 3. A detailed
soil profile description for each boring is attached to this report. A red ribbon flag was hung at
the auger borings to facilitate survey location for the elevation. Soil morphological
characteristics indicating a seasonal high water table (SHWT) were observed at 88 and 65 inches
below surface at Boring 3A and 3B, respectively. The proposed area has significant slope and
the depth to the seasonal high water table also transitions from deep to more shallow as you
proceed down the slope. Infiltration rates (permeability) of the soil materials are most limited to
approximately 2.0 in/hr in the sandy clay loam layer from 32 to 88 inches below surface at 3A
and to approximately 1.5 in/hr in the sandy clay loam layer from about 54 to 65 inches below
surface at 3B.
