Mike,
I just submitted sampling for quarter 3 for the Tar Heel Distribution Center's General Stormwater
Permit NCG060390. Samples taken 9/8/2022.
A pH value of 5.82 was recorded for this quarter. Submitted via eDMR portal on 10/5/2022. This is
my notification of exceedance for Tier I.
As previously discussed in past exceedances we had limited to no rainfall in the period leading up to
sampling event rainfall and the nature of our outfall's large stand of pine trees and sandy soils with
limited rainfall, lead to the lower than benchmark value of 6.0.
I have not seen any signs of pollution leading to the outfall and find no issue with current BMP's.
At this time Smithfield finds no other action to be taken and will continue with normal operations and
sampling required by permit and Tier I response.
Any questions or concerns please reach out. Thank you.
Regards,
Smithfield.
