RE: City of Goldsboro San Sewe Extension - Prop Drop MH
Sorry for the delay. I have received concurrence that a modification application and fee will be required for the processing
of the alternative design. Submit the package and I will process it as quickly as possible.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Thanks,
Thom

Hi Thom,
I talked to Seth this past Monday and he indicated that he would not object to the request to construct an inside drop
connection at this loccation considering the problems associated with tge high water table and the close proximity to the
highway. He told me he would get back with you.
What do I need to do next to proceed with the change? We are ready to proceed with the sewer installation.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello,
An "Alternative Design" approval would be required prior to a Modification request to the Fast Track Permit. The
regulations require a minimum 5' diameter MH for inside drops, therefore I am unable to process an application without
prior variance approval. That request would be made through Seth Robertson, PE, CG&L.
Please let me know if you need additional information.
Thanks,
Thom

Please let me know what you think about this. The MDC says the minimum size MH in order to allow a drop, is a 5'
diameter MH. The Eng. states that the plan shows the existing MH as 5', but construction has revealed the existing to be
a 4' diameter precast MH that was installed in approximately 2003. He states the MH is about 22' deep, and is
concerned of wet conditions and complications arising while digging that deep. What's your call on allowing an inside
drop within a 4' diameter MH?
Please let me know when you would like to discuss.
Thanks,
Thom
