Good Afternoon,

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division 10 Office is beginning the project development,
environmental, and engineering studies for the subject project. NCDOT is proposing to replace Bridge #890376 on SR
1126 (Bigham Road) over a tributary to Waxhaw Creek in Union County. The project is included in the current approved
2020-2029 NCDOT State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), with construction scheduled for fiscal year 2024.

Attached for your review is a scoping information package for the subject project. We appreciate any information that
may be helpful in evaluating potential environmental impacts of the proposed project. If applicable, please identify any
permits or approvals that may be required by your agency. Your comments will be used to assist in the preparation of
the State Minimum Criteria Document (MCDC) for the project. If you have any comments about the subject project,
please respond by Friday, October 21, 2022 so your comments can be used in the preparation of the environmental
document.
