7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or
why it is necessary):
The proposed work is to stabilize the shoreline from increasing erosion
and dumping thousands of pounds of clay into the watershed. As the lot
currently exists (completely undeveloped), serious amounts of erosion has
continued along the northern shoreline of the property line (and beyond
into the next lot). Well beyond the property line, there is significant
erosion continuing with thousands of pounds of earth being deposited into
the watershed. I would like to stabilize what I can on my property and
prevent further runoff of earth into the lake. This would involve
approximately 35 feet of stabilization from the property line on the
northern side along the shoreline. This would include using riprap along
the edge preventing further water erosion (as per DWG). This would
include an area for the dock ramp, which a permit has been sent to Duke
Power (Both Duke fee & HEP fee were sent). Dead drift wood, garbage,
debris, glass, broken bottles, clothing, plastic bags, and other various
forms of unwanted items would be removed from the buffer zone. Very
carefully performed to preserve the natural vegetation which exists
currently. I would only restore the vegetation along the water's edge and
including up into the riprap to reduce any further runoff into the
watershed. I would use natural vegetation that already exists and/or adding
naturally occurring vegetation from my property to stabilize the soil. No
backfilling, serious excavation, or retaining walls would be used in this
project. Limited uses of machinery (as possible) would be used,
unfortunately this property hasn't been maintained for a number of years.
So, the buffer zone has ended up with years of garbage as this lot is at the
end of the lake. Essentially using only riprap along with mild grading to
allow for better installation of the rock face and around/under the dock
structure. The dock itself is 100% Aluminum including all decking,
hardware, and structural pipes. The floats are 100% sealed plastic with 50
year life. No leeching of any chemicals are expected. The small drive -on
boat lift is 100% sealed plastic, made from recycled products.
8. How will the work be done?*
From Land
From Water
9. Total amount of disturbance below the normal pool lake level/ normal water level: *
(including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.)
1000
square feet
10. Total amount of disturbance above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet land-
ward: *
(including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.)
1000
square feet
11. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet landward to
be impacted:*
(number of trees, for instance)
Approximately, 50 trees exist within the zone of restoration. No trees
would be removed.
