To Whom It May Concern:
The Town of Apex and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) are starting the project
development, environmental, and engineering studies for the proposed improvements to SR 1521 (Lake
Pine Drive) from east of Pine Plaza Drive /MacGregor Pines Drive to the Apex Town limit, northeast of
Versailles Drive. This project is included in the 2012 -2020 NC'DOT State Tr•ansl)ortalion Irarlwovement
Program (STIP) as TIP project U- .5537.
The purpose of this project is to improve approximately 1,500 feet of Lake Pine Drive to a three lane
section, including bicycle lanes in each direction, adding a 10 foot mu'Iti -use path on the east side, a Eve
foot sidewalk on the west side, and a high - visibility crosswalk at Versailles Drive.
Attached for your review and comments are several neaps for the subject project. We would appreciate any
information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating potential environmental impacts of the
project. If applicable, please identify any permits or approvals that may be required by your
agency /department. An agency scoping meeting is not anticipated to be held for this project, Please
provide written comments by November 21, 2014 via mail or email (addresses below)..
