The complainant reported the possibility of chicken litter in a nearby creek. A thorough inspection of the subject chicken farm and creek found no evidence of chicken manure in the creek. The field where the chicken manure is applied is separated from the creek by a wooded buffer. Mr. Steve Birmingham, the operator of the chicken farm, stated that the chicken houses are cleaned out every 2-3 months. The chicken litter is land applied to a nearby field at agronomic rates. Page Two Investigation Report The subject creek is an unnamed tributary to Twelve Mile Creek. Examination of the creek revealed the following: - Creek was clear with no visible suspended solids. - Temperature 13° Celsius - Dissolved Oxygen (DO) 8.5 mg/1 - pH 7.17 s.u. - There was no evidence of chicken litter in or around creek.
