An investigation of the subject facility found wastewater discharging from a building where hogs were being housed. The discharge was running down a drive -way and across a pasture area. The discharge is a violation of the Permit. The Division of Environmental Management will proceed to revoke Grow - More Farms deemed permitted status unless the following measures are implemented: 1.Immediately eliminate the discharge of wastewater. 2. Make any modifications needed to ensure there will be no future discharges. It is requested that you respond in writing to this Notice, indicating the actions you have taken. COPIES TO: Union County Health Department Mr. Dennis Rape REPORT: On February 8, 1996, Mr. Roberto L. Scheller of this office conducted an investigation of an animal complaint located off Mussel White Road. The investigation was in response to a complaint received in this Office on January 21, 1996. The complainant reported that wastewater was being discharged onto the ground from a hog farm. An inspection of the subject facility found wastewater discharging from a building where hogs were being housed. The discharge was running down a drive -way and across a pasture area. Mr. Rape, the owner, was aware of the discharge and stated that repairs will be made on the flush system of the hog house. Mr. Rape was advised that the discharge needed to stop immediately. Page Two Investigation Report The discharge is a violation of 15A NCAC (North Carolina Administrative Code) 2H .0217, and a Notice of Violation will be issued. No significant impact on the aquatic environment was evident at the time of the inspection. A follow up investigation may be necessary to confirm compliance.
