Dear Property Owner and/or Tenant:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) plans to widen NC 66 (Old Hollow Road) from Harley
Drive to US 158 (Reidsville Road). Engineers, surveyors, geologists, and others representing NCDOT will be
working on or near your property for the next several months collecting data necessary for the design of the
transportation facility identified. The specific area in which NCDOT representatives will be working does not
necessarily indicate the final location or extent of the proposed improvement. We are proposing to start field work in
May 2016, and work will continue periodically until the planning and final design for the project are complete.
Accordingly, we wish to advise you that it may be necessary for field personnel to enter upon your property to
perform investigations. Our representatives will carry full personal identification and copies of this letter. The field
personnel have been instructed to attempt to inform each resident property owner or tenant in person before entering
upon a property. However, in the event that no one is home, it may be necessary to proceed with the field
investigations anyway due to the project time constraints. Every effort will be made to minimize the disturbance to
all properties. Much of the data to be collected will be obtained through observation, physical measurements, and
photography. Sometimes it may be necessary to set field stakes or other markers within the limits of your property
for future references. We request that these stakes not be disturbed.
Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC has been given the lead responsibility in coordinating this work. If
at any time you feel that any of the field personnel acting as our representatives have not given proper attention to
your property, please notify me. Field personnel will not be able to give any definite information or answers to your
questions about the planned improvements. They will simply be collecting data required for the preparation of
design plans. Public meetings will be held to keep you informed as the design progresses.
